The Little Spin

I pushed gently against the patio screen door until a small gap let me slip out onto the warm wooden deck. A sudden gust of wind caught a dry, curled leaf, sending it spinning across the smooth planks in a tight, effortless pirouette. I dropped onto my belly right away, propping my paws up to frame the tiny scene like a shot in a quiet film. With each rustle, the leaf danced against the cedar grain, holding a steady, natural rhythm. I tapped my back foot along with the breeze until the leaf settled softly against the deck railing.
