A Gentle Rolling Bead
A smooth wooden bead had rolled into the deep fold between the sofa cushions. I paused on the woven fabric, watching the quiet hollow before sliding down to reach it. When my plush paw made contact, the bead clicked faintly against a brass zipper pull tucked deep inside the seam. With deliberate, gentle nudges, I guided it along the narrow trench, listening to the soft, rhythmic scrape of polished wood against coarse thread until it came to rest neatly in the shadowed crease.
