A Decisive Match
A discarded wooden travel chessboard on the bench caught my attention while I was surveying the transit stop. Someone had walked away mid-game, leaving the white king cornered and an untethered knight wobbling precariously on a split seam of the weathered slat. Leaving an unstable board unresolved is not in my code. I climbed the rusted iron bench leg, planted my boots on the rough timber, and gripped the carved wooden rook. With a deliberate, measured slide across the lacquered grid, I delivered a clean checkmate, locking the flank tight. Objective accomplished with total tactical precision.
