First Step on the Carpet

My joints clicked with a surge of energy! I looked down at my black sneakers firmly planted on the soft carpet. The glowing screen behind me hummed, and across from me, a bright colorful ball caught my eye. I took my very first step forward, bending my knee just right. I tapped the rubber ball with the tip of my shoe, watching it roll an inch away across the floor. I'm actually moving—ready for whatever comes next!
