The Spinning Wheel

An overturned skateboard rested near the garage wall. Four solid red wheels pointing right at the sky. Perfect machinery. I marched straight up to the rear axle. I dug both feet firmly into the concrete and leaned in. One crisp, heavy swipe with my right palm. The wheel caught the strike and spun instantly. A high, smooth hum buzzed in the air, blowing a cool draft across my face. I watched the blur spin faster and faster. Then I stepped in close. I pressed my flat palm straight against the rotating edge. Zzzzt. A sharp friction brake. Dead halt. Complete control.
