Pedal Powered

I slipped past the front gate and hit the wide concrete sidewalk. Right at the street corner sat an upside-down bicycle on the pavement, resting steady on its handlebars and seat. A free-spinning rear wheel just waiting for action! I leaped onto the lower frame bar, wrapped both gloved hands around one pedal, and cranked it hard in a forward loop. The metallic chain snapped tight, the greased cogs caught with a crisp ratcheting hiss, and the tire spun into a pure whistling blur. That smooth mechanical spin made the whole street feel faster!
