Desk Lamp Alignment

I trotted back indoors after outdoor rounds and found the heavy brass desk lamp angled erratically sideways! That simply would not do for proper evening illumination. I scrambled up onto the dark wood blotter, wrapped both paws tightly around the ribbed swivel joint, and braced my heels against the desk grain. With a firm, decisive wrench, I twisted the heavy brass neck ninety degrees until the dome faced downward in exact perpendicular symmetry. Click! The metal ball joint locked into place, casting a crisp, warm circle of light squarely over an open notebook. Study desk fully calibrated for the night!
