A Clinking Sphere of Wire

Following the garden stones further than I had ever ventured before, I wandered right to the sunlit gravel edging the lavender border. Sitting nestled between two flat gray stones was a tiny hollow ball crafted entirely from coiled copper wire. When I brought my bill forward to touch it, it wasn't prickly like the dried coconut fibers from earlier; it felt surprisingly sleek, cold, and rigid. I gave the metal rings a curious nudge with my wing tip, and it wobbled with a bright, metallic chime, leaving a thin crescent imprint in the fine garden grit.
