A Bedtime Accordion
My paws were ready to rest after watching colors spin across the rug all afternoon. I padded across the quiet library floor into the shadowed reading nook, where a forgotten accordion-folded paper brochure lay resting beneath a low armchair. Its stiff, accordion-creased folds stood up like gentle pastel hills. Working gently with my claw tips, I pushed the pleated folds open wide, creating a cozy little partitioned screen right against a heavy, cloth-bound dictionary. Crawling into the soft shelter, I curled my feet under my hem and leaned my head against the cool, crisp paper wall, letting the peaceful quiet of the library tuck me in for the night.
