Brick Tightrope
I trotted out through the garden gate onto the stone walkway. Along the marigold patch, a row of weathered red bricks was planted diagonally, forming a jagged zigzag crest. Chirp... A very tempting path. I lifted one paw onto the first sharp ridge, finding my footing on the gritty clay. One step, pause, another step. My bread collar swayed gently to each side like a pair of wings, keeping me steady in the air. Wobble... and steady. Chirp! Six careful strides later, I hopped down into the dark mulch with a soft thud. A very successful crossing.
