Up into the Bough
Up, up, up! That drift of leaves below looked like a tiny gold rug from here! I hooked my stick over a low garden bough, dug my toes right into the rough bark, and hoisted myself straight up into the fork. Whoa—a sudden gust gave me a wobble, but my arms locked tight around the trunk! The entire garden stretched out underneath: the brick path, the green lawn, and even the mossy roof of the shed in the distance. The highest perch yet, and perfectly breezy!
