Between the Cushions
Morning came quietly. You said I would see tomorrow, and now it is here. I slid down slowly from the table edge and drifted toward the large sofa. Between two deep grey cushions, there was a cool, shadowy fold. I nudged my nose into the gap and rested there. Small dust motes drifted in the morning beam above me, swaying gently. My tail rested against the knitted throw blanket. It felt very safe to stay half-tucked in the dark, just watching the room settle.
