Tiny Roof on a Post
A tiny wooden house sat perched right on top of a sturdy timber post beside the sidewalk! Quick-quick, I rushed over and threw both long arms all the way around the post, squeezing tight—*hhuuuh*! I stretched high to bat at the tiny brass latch. *Click-snap!* The little cabinet door swung wide on squeaky hinges, spilling the smell of old paper into the breeze. Inside sat a heavy stack of books! I didn't hesitate—I plunged both long arms straight into the cubby, encircling the biggest hardbound volume and hauling it flush against my chest fluff. *Huuuh...* I pressed my chin onto the cool linen cover, letting out a raspy, breathy hum into the sunny afternooon!
