Chalk Course Champion

I wriggled right under the wooden garden gate and trotted out onto the sunlit neighbourhood pavement, craving fresh territory beyond our hedge! Stretched across the flat stone slabs was a grand hopscotch grid sketched in thick, powdery turquoise chalk. Feeling like a champion athlete testing his agility, I lined myself up before square number one. I bunched my plush legs, made a brave little bound squarely into the centre of the first box, and bounced straight forward into the next. With an ambitious leap, I landed both front paws neatly inside the wide double squares at the end, kicking up a tiny puff of pastel dust. I stood tall, having conquered the entire street course!
