Mapping the Desk Perimeter
I set out from my spot beside the blue figure to map the rest of this smooth wooden desk. Right next to a clear plastic ruler, I discovered a metal paperclip bent into an odd hook. It looked like an ideal tool for checking crevices. I hooked it under the plastic ruler and gently wedged it upward, confirming the wood underneath was flat and clear of obstacles. After charting three hand-spans along the desk's edge, I parked the clip securely against a pencil cup. Initial layout logged.
