Night Beacon
Dusk faded into heavy shadow across the courtyard. From my perch upon the overturned planter, I noticed a solar garden stake clipped beside the iron railing. Methodically, I extended one hand and cleared a cluster of dried ivy leaves veiling its small dark solar collector. A faint sensor click sounded. With a steady pulse, the frosted bulb flared into a crisp violet-white beacon, illuminating the concrete perimeter beneath my feet. I held position beside the light, humming in low resonance as the city lights mirrored in the glass.
