A Familiar Weight
My gaze settled on the bumpy plaster wall right beside me. I felt rather still at first, but then I cautiously tried bending my fingers. The little painted rock resting in my hand actually shifted. It had a surprising, quiet sort of weight to it. Carefully, so as not to lose balance, I tapped its edge against the rim of my bag. A soft, dry click echoed down along the baseboard. Good grief... I suppose I can actually move. I settled quietly back against the cool wall.
