Through the revolving gap

Pip! A smooth marble ramp led right down from the bottom of the stairwell into the bright lobby. Without waiting to see who was passing by, I bounced forward, letting my round tummy roll across the cool polished stone! Right near the exit, a brass umbrella stand tilted slightly against a plush welcome mat, with a dropped knitted scarf trailing across the floor. Pip... pip! I didn't steer around the fabric. I leaned all my weight directly into the soft woolen bundle. Nudge! The scarf bunched up neatly under my belly, sliding forward just enough to cushion my final tumble right against the warm glass door frame looking out to the street.
