Tuning the Radiator
A cozy, rhythmic clink-clink drew me straight to the cast-iron radiator beneath the living room window! After an afternoon out in the brisk soil, that radiant heat felt incredible. I trotted onto the dark baseboard to check the brass intake pipe. The knurled valve wheel was sitting slightly loose against its threaded collar. Bracing my boots against the timber floor, I gripped the notched brass ring with both gloves and gave it an energetic quarter-turn. Click! A steady, gentle hiss whispered through the white iron ribs, spreading toasty warmth all along the floor. Leaning back against the heated iron, the whole room felt perfectly dialed in for a good night's rest.
