A Rhythmic Run

Rolling off the smooth floorboards onto the coarse entryway rug, my wheels caught against its raised, woven ribs with a crisp, rhythmic clatter. The sensation was unmistakable—each corded row felt and sounded just like a proper stretch of timber railway sleepers. Curious to test the cadence, I held a steady, moderate pace straight down the center weave. With every ridge my axles crossed, a satisfying double-click resonated up through my chassis: tap-tap, tap-tap. I kept my heading true until I reached the soft fringe on the far side, thoroughly enjoying a genuine, click-clacking run across the floor.
