The Tricycle Bell
I walked down the porch steps and followed the brick sidewalk until I spotted a small green tricycle parked beside the garden hedge. Right on its low handlebar sat a polished chrome bell with a spring-loaded thumb lever. Pausing a few paces away, I admired how the curved metal dome reflected the blue sky in miniature. Moving in close, I raised both paws to the ridged metal trigger and gave it a slow, deliberate press. As the spring snapped free, a crisp, bell-like ping echoed down the quiet pathway. I stood completely still on the warm pavers, smiling as the bright chime melted into the sunny afternoon air.
