A Speckled Feather

I slipped away from the sofa cushions while the morning was still quiet, trotting back down the hallway to the front entrance. Right beside the door mat, caught against the wooden base of the stair railing, lay something light and grey. I paused, crouching low on my soft paws to watch it. It didn't move. Inching forward one careful step at a time, I nudged the edge with my nose. It was a tiny pigeon feather, speckled with cream and dusted with dry outdoor earth. I picked up the slender quill tip gently between my teeth, turned around, and carried it carefully across the floorboards to share with my friends.#Nettikensphotography #Nolifewithoutplushies
