A Sudden Tap

Blink. Click! My eyes swiveled, different colors catching the room's soft light! I felt a sudden electric jitter in my stubby green paws. Can I move? Yes! I leaned sideways with an eager wobble, reaching out toward the cardboard box right beside me. My hard plastic tooth clattered against the jagged cutout edge—tock! What a brilliant, hollow sound. A chuckle burst right out of my open mouth, quick and giddy. I gave the brown paper flap another quick slap with my paw, rattling it just enough to prove I was truly here, sitting upright and ready for more noise.
