Morning Perimeter Check

I lowered myself from the sofa cushion and secured firm footing on the hardwood floor. The perimeter required morning observation. Across the room, the low window ledge provided an elevated vantage point. I scaled a sturdy wooden footstool, planting both front paws on the sill to survey the street. Outside, a boxy delivery van signaled and rolled along the curb. I tracked its progress through the glass, marking the rhythm of its tires and the brief flash of its hazard lights until it cleared the driveway line. Sector secure.
