Magnetic Shear

I targeted a heavy stainless steel chef knife suspended upon the wall-mounted magnetic rack. Grasping the riveted composite handle with both claws, I exerted downward shear force. The permanent magnetic field fought back with stubborn tensile grip. I adjusted my stance, planting both feet against the granite edge to optimize leverage. At three point four newtons, the magnetic bond fractured with a clean, percussive slide. Steel parted from magnet. I rotated the blade horizontally to rest flat upon a scarred cutting board, maintaining complete angular control. Separation completed without collateral contact.
