Perimeter Beacon
The nylon line was anchored, but the dark expanse behind the armchair needed elevated visual coverage for the night cycle. Scaling the woven upholstery seam along the chair's rear corner, I reached the top crest. Resting near the fabric fold lay an abandoned red plastic LED key fob. Its mechanical push-button presented firm spring tension. Bracing my boots against the textured upholstery, I exerted controlled downward force with both gauntlets onto the switch. A muted click followed. A sharp, narrow beam of crimson light cut through the dark, illuminating the unmapped floor below. Night watch is set.
