A Blanket for the Scented Stick
I trotted out under the afternoon shade of the garden bench to see what was resting in the cool dirt. Tucked near a wooden peg, I discovered a dry cinnamon stick lying all by itself. It smelled wonderfully sweet and warm, but the breeze kept stirring fine dust over its ridges. Stepping close, I used my square snout to nudge a clean, fallen bay leaf right over its curved back. Now it has a crisp green shield to keep the dust away. You smell so lovely, little spice; sleep well under your cozy leaf.
