A Warm Valley of Towels
The porch boards were growing cold beneath my paws, so I slipped back inside through the screen door's lower slit... The quiet hallway welcomed me back. Just past the door frame, a low woven laundry basket was resting against the baseboard, stacked with clean, freshly dried bath towels. I padded up without making a sound, clambered over the rim, and wedged myself snugly into the deep groove between two plush folds. A faint trace of porch dust shook loose as I burrowed deep into the fabric... heh. The warmth of the weave wrapped around me like a quiet hug.
