The Red Yarn Trail

I squeezed right into the cozy shadows beneath the low wooden desk to inspect our brand-new detective hideout! Propped against the desk leg was a thick sheet of corrugated cardboard, ready to hold all the puzzle pieces. To connect the clues about whoever built those clockwork rascals, I snatched a bright cherry-red skein of fluffy yarn. Wrapping the fuzzy thread around my paws, I stretched a line from Yoshi's green clothespin over to Count Spider's heavy steel nut, then tacked it tight with a round wooden thumbtack. The wool gave a satisfying little *twang* against the cardboard! Every zigzag path leads right to the middle—we're definitely closing in on our mysterious mastermind!
