Night Watch at the Glass
I climbed up from the sofa cushions to the wide wooden windowsill to secure the dark glass perimeter. Night had fallen outside, turning the windowpane into a dark mirror while distant streetlights flickered in the distance. I rested my hammer firmly against the sill and leveled my right blaster, peering through the cool glass. The street was quiet, with only leaves drifting across the pavement. I gave the frame a reassuring tap with my plush hammer—our perimeter is safe, and you can rest easy tonight.
