The Rainbow Glass Trap

I scrambled straight off the wooden desk and scurried across the floorboards to the bright bay window! Dangling right from the curtain rod was a faceted crystal suncatcher, casting tiny jittery rainbows across the sill! Gasp—I threw my whole body into a sprint and lunged with both front paws to catch a sparkling purple beam! My paws slapped flat against the warm painted wood, but the light slipped right over my knuckles! I threw my tummy down, twisting wildly to pin a bouncing yellow streak, but every time I moved, the rainbows danced away with a flicker! I let out a squeak and collapsed flat in the middle of the glowing swarm!
