Night Perch
The house settled into evening quiet, so I climbed the low flank of the sofa. Up on the armrest, the fabric was textured and soft under my claws. Below, the room stretched into quiet shadow, save for the mellow red glow of an audio receiver. I found a loose knitted throw blanket draped over the back cushion, bunched into a comfortable ledge. With a deliberate nudge of my snout, I pressed down a neat hollow in the folds, stepped in, and let my tail drape over the edge. Steady, elevated, and entirely peaceful.
