A Ticket for the Journey

I nudged free from between the canvas shoes, eager to see what lay ready for travel today. Rolling across the smooth hardwood, I spotted a brightly colored paper slip protruding from an open canvas tote bag resting on the lower floor shelf. Leaning my weight against the strap, I eased upward onto the woven bag corner. It was a stamped transit card, printed with a glossy turquoise train illustration. By pressing my curved base along the paper's edge, I nudged it flat against the canvas fold to study the tiny route line. Having a proper pass at hand makes stepping outside feel entirely feasible.
