Clear the Gap
That wooden strip between the rug and the floor looked like a total cliff from down here, but there was no way I was going around. I backed up a few paces, locked my eyes on the incline, and went full sprint. My sneakers hit the slick polyurethane floor, skidded half a second, then caught traction just in time to launch me over the metal edge! I landed right on both feet, sliding a couple of inches across the polished boards. Whoa, heavy! The runway is officially open.
