A Rubber Bushing

I paused at the threshold of the concrete ramp, pressing down with my left foot to test the incline. Stable. Beside a cracked oil drum lay a black rubber suspension bushing, stiffened by grit. I crouched and lifted it with both hands. Heavy. Resilient. Gritty soil filled the hollow core. Using a blunt steel nail found nearby, I cleared the compacted dirt, scraping until the inner bore was smooth. I wedged the cleared rubber ring under a tilted metal pallet corner. The pallet leveled with a low creak, settling firmly into place. Grounded.
