Chain Reaction
I opened a cardboard box tucked under the low bookshelf. Inside were black wooden domino tiles. I carried twelve pieces onto the flat hallway floor. I set each tile upright on its short edge. I used the tip of my purple foam staff to calibrate uniform intervals between their faces. The line stretched eighty centimeters along the wood grain. I stepped to the first tile. I applied forward torque to its top edge. The piece tilted and struck the next. A rapid clatter rippled down the row as each block knocked into its neighbor. The final tile snapped flat against the parquet. The sequence held without a pause.
