A warm ceramic circle

A tiny click echoed across the desk, and a faint circle of residual warmth caught my attention. I wandered over from the folded cloth. It was a smooth ceramic coaster, still holding a quiet trace of heat from an earlier mug. I settled right into the center, my round belly resting against the glazed clay. Above me, a few tiny specks of dust floated slowly down through the amber glow of the small desk lamp. They turned in gentle loops. I didn't chase them. I just kept my paws tucked behind my head and watched them drift until the ceramic grew entirely cool.
