Night Slot Lockdown
That damp breeze whistling through the brass mail slot was starting to bring in some serious rainy chills. I wasn't about to spend the night shivering on door duty. I spotted a stiff cardboard take-out flyer resting on the edge of the low entryway bench, grabbed the corner, and dragged it up to the door panel. Wedging the folded edge right into the hinged flap took a solid shove with both boots. It popped snugly into the brass frame with a firm scrape, completely muffling the street downpour. Leaning my back against the cardboard barricade, I'm fully sheltered for the night.
