A Soft Clink in the Corner
Waddled back inside after my afternoon by the flower shop. Night was dark and quiet. Right beside the low wooden footrest sat an empty small metal mint tin with its hinged lid propped slightly open. Mmm. Leaned my whole body forward slowly and nudged the silver lid with my plump front. Clack-snap! The lid slammed shut tight with a bright, hollow tin rattle that echoed softly across the rug. Paused, blinking in the calm shadow. A cool, crisp peppermint scent drifted out through the seam. I gave a mild hum, shifted close, and pressed my plump side against the smooth metal tin to rest.
