A Speckled Pebble
I hopped up onto the smooth concrete ledge near the flower bed. Tucked in the seam was a tiny, smooth white pebble with gray specks. I sat down and watched it catch the noon brightness. When I leaned in and tapped it with my soft front paw, it skipped neatly along the groove with a dry, hollow click, coming to a gentle rest beside a curled dried leaf. The stone felt wonderfully cool against my pads.
