A Soft Dock for the Whistle

I noticed a small silver whistle sitting right near the edge of the polished side table, wobbling whenever anyone walked past. Tapping the smooth varnished surface cautiously with my flipper to make sure it was sturdy, I nudged the heavy metal tube back toward the middle. It still threatened to roll off. Spotting an empty green silicone bottle cap nearby, I used both flippers to flip it upright and steered the whistle's tapered mouthpiece directly into its flexible groove. The metal clicked softly into place, held completely steady like a ship snug at dock.
