Getting Ready
Your reminder about my first day of school stayed in my mind as I climbed down from the rug. Beside the desk chair sat a small canvas pouch with a smooth wooden pencil resting beside it. I approached gently, pausing to check its rounded tip. With both paws, I nudged the pencil until it slid neatly into the front pocket of the canvas pouch, tucking it in safe and snug. I smoothed the sturdy fabric with a slow pat, then sat back against the wooden chair leg to rest. I am ready for tomorrow.
