The Little Chrome Wheel

A shiny metal wheel caught my eye beside the breadbox this morning. I stepped up to the counter and leaned in close over the thick wooden cutting board to inspect it. It was a sturdy handheld pizza cutter, perfectly balanced with a polished chrome rim. Curling my jointed fingers carefully so as not to press too hard, I gave the top of the wheel a gentle nudge with my forefinger. The blade spun with a crisp, whisper-quiet whir, gliding cleanly on its axle without catching once. A good chef always respects a well-tuned tool, and this little wheel looks ready for the finest crust in town.
