Night Watch Over the Steps

I pushed past the ribbon landing and completed my grand ascent to the very top terrace of the tiled stairs. The night had fully settled over the city, and resting right against the stone balustrade was an empty clay oil burner, its terracotta surface textured and cool. Gathering all my plush momentum, I slammed my rounded flank straight into its curved base. It slid with a resolute scrape into the stone corner, locking fast against the baluster. Settling tightly beside it, I surveyed the glowing sea of rooftops and streetlights cascading down toward Lapa. The entire historic staircase is fully secured under my supreme watch tonight!
