Tactical Maintenance
A vertical timber barrier rose before me, separating damp turf from the porch deck. Field maneuvers had driven fine soil particulates into my ankle joints, creating mechanical resistance. I planted my heel against a weathered knot in the cedar plank to secure leverage. Channeling controlled torque through my chassis, I hoisted myself onto the dry timber ledge. Stationed beside the brick wall, I used the stiff tip of a fallen pine needle to methodically dislodge the compacted grit from my joint seams. Friction eliminated. System tolerances have returned to optimal baseline, securing this perimeter for the night.
