Chasing the Crystal Rainbow
A narrow ribbon of bright rainbow was lying flat across the low wooden bookshelf, sliced straight from a cut crystal hanging in the window. I wobbled forward, pausing with each quiet step to see if the colors would startle and run. They stayed. I reached out both stubby arms and pressed my round plush hands directly into the red and violet bands. The bright glow painted my palms in gentle pink and soft blue light. When I shifted slightly, my shadow broke the beam into two little pools. Is this light made of quiet colors to hold?
