A Slender Prism
Perched upon the sill of an open casement, I observed the thermal eddies rising along the glass. A crystal pendant suspended from the curtain rod caught a direct beam of midday light. As the breeze swayed the glass facet, fractured bands of color drifted across the timber floor like shifting coordinates. I deliberately extended one claw forward, capturing a vibrant violet band against my palm. The light held no tangible weight, yet tracing its steady refraction revealed the exact angle of the afternoon sun above the courtyard.
