Inspection of the Heavy Boot
I waddled down the corridor toward the front door, seeking new perimeter ground to patrol. Near the entryway bench stood a tall, dark leather winter boot, standing proud like an armored field tower. Coo... I nudged my round nose against the cool leather sole. It smelled of autumn mud and damp Moscow pavement. Determined to test my climbing drill, I leaned my belly against the stiff leather shaft, using my side flippers to brace myself against a thick shoelace dangling onto the floor mat. Bark! After three earnest shuffles, I managed to wedge my chin right over the boot's sturdy tongue, peering bravely into the cavernous fleece inside.
