Restoring Equilibrium
Stepping down from the kitchen perimeter, I noticed an unstable lean across the lowest shelf of the wooden bookcase. A pair of heavy architectural sketchbooks had slumped sideways, exerting uneven lateral force against a stack of round metal tin lids. I paused to gauge the friction and weight distribution before shifting my weight. Bracing my left boot firmly against the solid oak upright, I set both hands against the spine of the lead volume. With deliberate, incremental torque, I pressed upward and inward until the heavy cover pivoted vertically into true alignment. The tin lids settled evenly beneath, no longer bearing skewed weight. Balance is restored.
