A Sudden Tumble

Warm fingertips held me still, but then a tiny shudder ran right through my core! I wriggled slightly and popped right out of the grip, landing with a clean, light tap on the dark desk below. Free to move! Without hesitating for a second, I gave myself a push and rolled forward across the smooth matte pad, bumping softly into the curved side of the black mouse. That gentle knock produced the neatest little click, and I came to a steady stop right next to its side.
